Angular-Contact Ball Bearings . Open. Sealed. Shielded. The raceways in these bearings are positioned off-center to handle angular (combined radial and thrust) loads. Single-row bearings handle thrust loads on one side. For applications with thrust loads on both sides, mount them in pairs.High precision bearings are important in machinery that requires reliability, fast rotational speed and heavy use. But Radial Ball Bearings & Angular Contact Ball Bearings are not interchangeable. This article is intended to focus specifically on the difference between radial deep groove ball bearings and angular contact ball bearings which have very distinct characteristics.

 

Angular contact ball bearings have raceways in the inner and outer rings that are displaced with respect to each other in the direction of the bearing axis. This means that they are designed to accommodate combined loads, i.e. simultaneously acting radial and axial loads.
